Kickoff in Nordic 5G Consortium

- I am happy to see so much competence of such high quality in the group, as well as the participants' willingness to take on the challenges and tasks that lie ahead, says Lunde, one of the initiators of N5GC.

In mid-February, the first meeting in Nordic 5G Consortium (N5GC) was held, with the majority of official Nordic broadcasters attending. During the meeting, the participants discussed the impact of 5G on the industry and planned future work for the consortium.

After the meeting, the host, Ingebrigt Lunde, project manager at N5GC, was excited about the participants' engagement and involvement.
– Each organization has done quite a bit of research on the technology and the opportunities to disrupt businesses, operating models, and markets. All the broadcasters presented their information to the others – and we all learned something and got brand new insights from the other's research, says Lunde.

The group agreed on further collaboration and to share their experience and challenges. They also recognized several common challenges ahead that we will collaborate on solving together, either through joint projects or by just sharing progress and information through our common collaboration platform.

The different broadcasters had all researched 5G in various ways; one broadcaster had deep-dived into equipment testing and is part of several European 5G projects. They will now frequently report a summary of their work to the rest of the group. Another broadcaster had a close collaboration with a telecom provider; they will also convey their testing results to the group as we advance.

- I am happy to see so much competence of such high quality in the group, as well as the participants' willingness to take on the challenges and tasks that lie ahead. This bodes well for future opportunities for the industry, says Lunde.
